On one hand, I can't see how it's right to profit from capitalizing on recent, well-deserved national pride. While making a lot of money from your work is great, you just need some humility to recognize you're part of something larger, and you wouldn't have this income without others taking real risks. On the other hand, it would be embarrassing to fail because you foolishly deprived yourself of resources. That would be an insult to the memory of those who sacrificed everything. There's no embarrassment in being paid well for your work. It's an ethical duty to reward those who labor for your benefit. That said, I know nothing about the makers, bottlers, labelers, founders, or distillers of this obviously young spirit, so I can't and won't pass judgment on the people profiting from patriotism. If a Belgian/Brazilian-owned company can put "America" on their product cans for a buck, then hey, so can these mystery folks. At least the mystery folks know how it's properly pronounced. It's not bad, it's just young and inexpensive like the best prostitutes. At least with this, you can actually find it to buy. And that, folks, is how to move from highbrow self-righteous elitism into the slimy pit of morally depraved behavioral filth. So basically, this review tells the story of "Merica" much better than this spirit ever could.

I want to preface this by saying I admire the company's mission, but I'm uncertain about this particular offering. The aroma was perhaps the most enjoyable aspect, but the taste felt exceptionally young! It's not bad, but definitely youthful. It's drinkable, though I'd estimate its value around $20. I likely won't purchase another bottle once this one is finished.

Nan Pena 1.0

The aroma is basically a fruity new make profile with a touch of wood and spice. The palate is essentially the same. The finish follows suit. It smells and tastes exactly as you'd imagine a 6-month-old bourbon from MGP would.

Benito Xiong 2.0

Starts very oaky and slightly grassy, finishing smoother. However, something is lacking, and it feels like it could be a great bourbon if aged longer. At this stage, I wouldn't recommend it.

Dayana Leahy 3.0

It's not terrible. It's comparable to another specific whiskey. It's clearly sourced, and the refusal to be transparent, hiding behind national pride, is offensive, but the liquid itself, while unremarkable, is not bad.

Nylah Roland 1.0

This isn't great on its own. It's too potent and requires more time to mature. It performs well in cocktails, however. I'll try it again in honor of America!
