About this bottle

Maker's Mark Cask Strength, initially sold only in 375ml bottles, is now available in larger sizes. As indicated by its name, it is bottled at cask strength, typically ranging from 108 to 114 proof. Minimal filtering removes wood fragments but not chill-filtration, contributing to a richer flavor and higher alcohol content. This cask strength version serves as the foundation for other Maker's Mark Wood Finishing releases. Batch 15-02 specifically is bottled at 111.6 proof.

Sage Oakes 4.0

The aroma is a wonderful blend of charred oak and cherry syrup with a touch of smoke and leather subtly included. Notes of sweet vanilla, caramel, soft black pepper, and baking spices complete it. It's very pleasant and balanced on the nose, not giving away the whiskey's proof at all. The palate is chewy and somewhat dry with a burst of spice that immediately reaches the corners of the mouth while oak and cherry cascade over the tongue. Sweet, smooth vanilla and brown sugar swirl around the tongue until they eventually meld with the other flavors. The palate is very straightforward and enjoyable, delivering the expected basic notes of a wheated bourbon in a gentle and pleasing manner, especially considering the proof. The finish is medium to long and spicy, leaving the mouth with a dry oak taste and the sweeter notes fading to a subtle astringency at the back of the mouth. Overall, a wonderful whiskey to savor and incredibly easy to drink.
