LICOR DE JENIPAPO MATRIARCA

Cachaça Matriarca has been handcrafted for over thirty years on the Cio da Terra farm, situated between Caravelas, Lajedão, and Medeiros Neto in the southernmost part of Bahia. This area, known for its fertile massapê soil, has recently gained recognition for its distinctive sugarcane cultivation. The story of Matriarca is tied to the ambition of its founder, Adalberto Alves Pinto. Known as Beto Pinto, he was the youngest of eight siblings and grew up absorbing the wisdom of his mother, Aracy, a skilled farmer who raised and educated all her children virtually on her own, like a true matriarch. In pursuit of the ultimate flavor, Matriarca constructs its own vats and barrels on-site, allowing for precise refinement and innovation, notably pioneering the use of jackfruit. This approach celebrates the aesthetic appeal, colors, textures, and diversity of wood. Jenipapo Matriarca Liqueur is made from a native fruit common in Northern and Northeastern Brazil, Matriarca Cristal cachaça, and sugar. Produced in Medeiras Neto, Bahia, it's a completely natural product with 25% alcohol. Jenipapo is the fruit of the genipapeiro tree, reaching 20 meters in height and found in the Amazon and Brazilian Atlantic Forest, but rarely outside northern or northeastern Brazil. The fruit is abundant in iron, calcium, phosphorus, and vitamins like B complex and C. Indigenous Brazilians use genipapo for respiratory ailments, viewing it as an expectorant.
