Merlin Dozier 5.0

A solid standard bourbon release. Quite enjoyable, similar to Eagle Rare. No harshness, smooth with notes of caramel. I don't understand the low ratings here; this surpasses my expectations for a new distillery in VA. I'd rate it 3.75, but giving it a 5 to counter the unfairly low scores.

Benita Mcdermott 3.3

A robust bourbon loaded with sugary caramel notes and a noticeable ethanol burn, indicating its 59 months of aging. It has an adequate body, but doesn't do anything particularly outstanding with it. Quite standard, but I wouldn't refuse a glass.

Wendy Golden 3.8

A good bourbon. My bottle indicated a 4-year age statement on the back label. It has a pleasing light amber hue. Notes of chocolate, tea, and butterscotch are present. The mash bill includes 20% wheat, contributing the characteristic flavors of a wheated bourbon (which I enjoy).

Payton Salisbury 2.8

This is a nice enough young wheated bourbon that would be much better with a few more years in the barrel. Typical sweetness with a warm, but not overpowering, finish. Too expensive for a 2-year-old bourbon.

Yadira Sherwood 3.5

Nose: maize, burnt sugar, fruit Palate: sugary maize, toasted sugar Finish: cinnamon, hide, nectar

Loraine Doran 3.5

Somewhat sweet, warm, toasted, with a touch of wood. The finish is clean, with no harshness.
