About this bottle

Kinnickinnic Whiskey is a creation of Great Lakes Distillery, situated in Milwaukee and founded by Guy Rehorst. The name is derived from an Ojibwe term that roughly means "mixture," specifically referencing a blend of tobacco and other botanicals. Kinnickinnic is a combination of sourced Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey and malt and rye whiskey produced by the distillery in Wisconsin.

Layne Gulley 2.0

Amazing local distillery making notable products in Milwaukee. This special whiskey, released prematurely in this cut version, shows its early release. The whiskey isn't very good. The sour, tobacco, and charcoal-dominant finish isn't quite up to par for sipping, let alone mixing. Good news is, according to the master distiller, more barrels have been aging and a new release is expected soon (if it's not available already). I eagerly anticipate trying this whiskey again, as I'm sure it will complement the high-quality gin and vodka that Great Lakes Distillery is becoming recognized for. If you find yourself in Brew City, visit the valley and take the tour.

Elbert Robbins 3.0

This is a good whiskey for cocktails where you want the whisky flavor to really come through with sweet notes. It's ideal for an old fashioned. As a sipping whiskey, you can detect chocolate and coffee notes, along with distinct bourbon and rye characteristics.

Crystal Haywood 3.0

The aroma is of sugar cane; I can't detect anything else. The palate has notes of scotch peat and perhaps a hint of sweetness, with a long spicy finish.

Nevaeh Bartlett 2.8

The smell is a little sweet with some tobacco notes. It has a somewhat harsh bite that slightly overshadows the whiskey taste.

Anissa Otto 3.0

An adequate mid-range drinking whiskey; not too harsh, with dark caramel, mild sweetness, and not very smoky.

Jase Sousa 3.0

Not a bad whiskey, likely best enjoyed in a cocktail rather than neat.
