The aroma starts with charred oak, smoke, leather, rye spice, and a hint of cherry. Smoother notes emerge in the background with vanilla and a touch of brown sugar. It's very full but not overwhelming. It's extremely pleasant to keep revisiting before taking a sip. The palate is somewhat dry and fills the mouth with strong notes of charred oak and pepper. Cherry follows, then smoother notes of vanilla and brown sugar. The flavors are quite intense and very easy to swirl around the mouth. It's wonderful to take time exploring these flavors, as this whiskey allows you to do despite its high proof. The finish is medium long and slightly peppery, as oak, cherry, and vanilla combine to fade deliciously.
