The issue with these is their quality comes at a high cost. Their Dalridian Part 1, also an 11-year-old, was excellent. The 10-year-olds are good too, but anything younger is a definite no. Even the 10 and 11-year-olds are significantly overpriced, regardless of their quality. It typically involves a peated Islay, often Caol Ila, blended with an Irish spirit, likely Bushmills, possibly with a finishing period in other wood. This specific one was likely a bourbon-matured Caol Ila mixed with an Oloroso-matured Bushmill, perhaps without a secondary maturation. At $150 for 500ml, it's extremely expensive. I only acquired a $10 sample. It's good, but you're paying a premium for an 11-year-old blended malt. The aroma is fresh, with hints of almond, smoke, and fruit. The Islay-Irish blend is quite apparent. The palate has less smoke, with the fruity Bushmill taking the lead, followed by a salty, briny smokiness. At $50 for 500ml, I'd buy it immediately. However, the current pricing reflects a premium for the blending expertise. I won't buy the bottle, but if you can find a sample, it's a must-try.
