Kaniché Réserve Rum

The aroma is pleasant, with notes of sugarcane juice and honey, accompanied by subtle hints of apple. The flavor is light and sweet, featuring sugarcane caramel, honey, and floral notes. Rather than spices, I detect herbal notes reminiscent of tea, such as chamomile, sage, and balm. There's a slight tingly spice at the finish. However, I genuinely don't comprehend the low regard for this rum. I acquired a bottle for about 16 EUR, and at that price, it's an exceptional rum. It's light yet possesses enough complexity for enjoyable sipping. The characteristic Barbados sweetness is present but remains a considerable distance from the overly sweet, dessert-like profiles of standard Diplomatico, Zacapa, and similar rums.

Coming from someone used to the strong bite of Bacardi rums (and who used to think she disliked rum entirely because of it. I am still exploring and have discovered some truly tasty rums lately) this rum is almost good enough to drink straight. Barely any sharp alcohol sting when had neat. It's sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. It's best served ice cold. Vanilla and caramel are the main tastes, with a hint of smoke. It also works well in cocktails (I'm having it in a rum flip right now); a fantastic rum considering its cost.

A strong alcohol presence. Otherwise, it has a light flavor, as if vodka was infused with butterscotch and spices for a brief period after passing through wood. It tastes far too young and lacks significant complexity. It's certainly not ideal for sipping but could work as a mixer. There are also some noticeable tropical fruit notes. It's not enjoyable to drink neat.

A full-bodied Rum from Barbados, matured in bourbon and cognac barrels. It begins with a fragrant nose of sugarcane and wood. Its robust journey concludes with a lengthy, even finish. February 2016 / June 2017

The nose offers wood, cherry popsicle, spice, soy sauce, vanilla, and banana. The taste is sweet with butterscotch, caramel, baking spice, pineapple, banana, vanilla, and a slight hint of black pepper.

The aroma has a pot still funk, alongside sweet molasses and vanilla oak. The palate is a vanilla explosion. It's sweet with cooked dried fruits, finishing dry. A solid Barbados rum for mixing.
