The name "Feith A' Chaorainn," which means “lands around the Rowan” in Gaelic, references a fortunate Rowan tree found on the island of Jura. Legend has it that islanders would take cuttings from this tree to adorn their homes, barns, and fishing vessels as protection from the elements. The whiskey was produced in 1976 and aged in three former bourbon barrels. These were combined and bottled in 2011 at 92 proof, with a total of only 500 bottles produced.

The aroma begins with a misleading freshness that shifts to a comforting, smoky scent. Oak and cedar mingle with citrus notes. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Best saved for specific moods.
