Ethan Arevalo 3.3

I'd never encountered it prior to today. I discovered it in a VIP airport lounge in Turkey and requested a dram. I suspect it's quite inexpensive and appears to be favored in Poland and Turkey. It's bottled at 40% alcohol by volume and has a tawny color. The aroma is too faint. It leans more towards a prune/herbal/grapy bourbon than a vanilla/banana bourbon. Scents of prunes, dry brown grass, tobacco leaf, and slight ashy/coal notes (similar to Jack Daniel's). The taste is incredibly unexciting. Caramel, bitter prunes, herbal notes. Far too uncomplicated; a very easy-drinking spirit. This is the sort of thing you purchase when you're young and want to get intoxicated cheaply. The finish is spicy, primarily ginger. Medium length. Overall, I scored it a 60 out of 100, and then I added water. Water significantly improved it, bringing out vanilla/banana notes on the nose and vanilla sweetness and brown sugar notes on the palate. This might push the score up to a 64 out of 100, but it's still a 3.0. Only consume it under the same conditions I did: if it's complimentary.
