Jameson Select Reserve Small Batch combines 12-year-old pot still whiskey with 5-year-old grain whiskey. It is matured in bourbon barrels that have been extra charred and is not chill filtered. This particular Jameson bottling is thought to be the international equivalent of the Select Reserve Black Barrel, which is exclusively sold in the United States.

Compared to the new Black Barrel expression, the difference is striking. The new Black Barrel is significantly harsher and rougher, while this is smooth, flavorful, and very enjoyable neat. It’s unfortunate this line is no longer produced. I discovered a hidden cache at a remote liquor store, and nobody knew what it was. I purchased the entire stock... I will lament drinking my final serving of it.
Much better than anticipated - it's a blend of Irish and American styles. As someone who loves bourbon, I found this enjoyable. It has notes of charred oak, vanilla, possibly some cherries, cinnamon, and pecans. The body is substantial and the finish is smooth. Cheers!

Smooth and forgettable. It lacks significant character, but is pleasant enough considering the price.
Aroma: Sweet, vanilla Flavor: Vanilla, shortbread, nutty ending
It's quite sweet, but this is the first genuine whiskey in my collection.
