Smell of angelica, mint, root beer, leather, anise, cola, ginger, earth, wood, dark chocolate. Bitter, earthy, woody, herbal on the palate; lots of root beer. Bitter finish.
Some of the most unusual flavors I've encountered, but I enjoy it. It's sweet, with black licorice and almonds, plus other indistinct notes.
Clove, allspice, and faint cardamom. This old Czech recipe is mellow and slightly sweet, a fine example of fernet, and a great alternative to Branca.
