James Eadie's Trade Mark X

Nose: Sweet fruit, damp peat smoke, BBQ meat, candied fruit, grassy, and grainy. Palate: Berries/red fruit, sugar, very light peat, earthy, salt/brine, and bacon-flavored crisps. A pleasant spicy kick. Finish: Short to medium length. Apricot, with lingering sweet peat smoke that turns sour on the aftertaste. This is a well-crafted blend. It is sweet and smoky, and generally well-balanced. A significant ex-bourbon cask influence is noticeable on the palate. The blend comprises 60% grain and 40% malt. It is made up of 14 whiskies; the original version contained 16, with the 14 in this updated version also being components of the original blend. It finished last out of the five samples, receiving 10% of the vote for favorite of the night. 73% of attendees indicated they enjoyed the whisky. Truly quite poor. A standard marketing narrative for a harsh, thin, grainy, ester-heavy concoction, masked with some kind of Islay influence to make you believe it's acceptable. It's like JW Red Label trying to be Black Label; always choose Black Label.

It's acceptable, but rather unmemorable. Still, it's smooth for being 45.6% ABV.
