I frequently visit Arizona and always take the tour at Santan Distillery to sample their whisky. It's commendable for whiskey newcomers outside the traditional bourbon sphere to establish themselves within the Kentucky legacy. Nose: I detect a smooth, oaky aroma reminiscent of a deep forest fire with a level 3 char. Vanilla notes are also present, contributing to a balanced initial impression. Front: A light floral character with a touch of spice. Not much more can be said. Finish: It concludes with dark fruit and rye notes. I believe this Bottled-in-Bond expression has a distinct flavor profile. One might expect a stronger impact at 50% ABV, but this offers a cleaner taste despite the higher proof, maintaining its clarity. 7.5/10
