I'm uncertain about the direction of this distillery. Lot 40 and Triple Barrel now exhibit a sour note on the nose and palate that I find quite unpleasant. Fortunately, I have a half-bottle of Wiser's Double Still Rye for comparison, and there's not much similarity. It's entirely different. Why did I compare it to that bottle? Because Wiser's Triple Barrel was essentially a repackaging of Double Still Rye for its initial release. When I sampled them side-by-side years ago, they were identical. This is no longer enjoyable neat. It has a peculiar sourness that reminds me of cheap brandy, much like Lot 40. I'm not a fan right now.
