About this bottle

For this expression, a Kentucky bourbon with a mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley, aged for about six months, is transferred to a steel tank. There, chips from a broken ex-oloroso sherry cask and two other barrel types are added for several more months before bottling.

Marjorie Conrad 4.0

Consumed neat. It presents a deep amber color. The aroma consists of cocoa, oak, caramel, and vanilla. The taste mirrors the nose, offering rich chocolate, sherry, vanilla, and butterscotch flavors. Cocoa and butterscotch notes persist through the moderately long finish. The warmth is gentle, and it's quite smooth. It's unique, profound, and complex, serving as an excellent example of what finishing casks can achieve. While I'm unsure about the base whiskey's quality, nothing about it is unpleasant. In any case, it's worth sampling to experience the impact of French oak and sherry casks on bourbon. I personally find it an excellent value for the price, especially at 95 proof, earning it an extra quarter point for value. I will certainly purchase another bottle.

Deanne Noble 3.8

The aroma is reminiscent of Aunt Jemima maple pancake syrup. The initial taste confirms a well-balanced, smooth, almost syrupy mouthfeel. It's not as intensely sweet as the aroma suggests, but it does evoke the taste of honey and caramel. The finish is smooth with no burn, but lacks any other distinct flavors. While the age is uncertain, it seems well-matured.

Molly Lackey 3.3

The barrel influence is strong. Or perhaps the staves. The base whiskey lacks character and identity, but whatever infusion method they employ, despite admitting it's unethically sourced, yields a rather flavorful result.

Chloe Gilliam 3.5

Very fruity aroma, maple dominant with hints of cedar and an oak finish. It's a rather potent bourbon that is sweet with strong caramel and light vanilla flavor. Notes of raisins and molasses.

Lucille Storey 4.0

Smooth vanilla and fig notes are prominent initially. Baking spice follows. A rich and gentle finish, especially considering the high alcohol content.

Julius Mcneal 3.0

Recommended by the bartender for something spicy. Very potent, with some heat, and prominent grain character.
