Highland Earl

Smell: Alcohol, a worn-out shoe, malt vinegar, privet hedge, overcooked brown sugar, aged wood cask. Taste: It starts with a smooth texture typical of grain whisky but lacks substantial flavor, offering only a hint of sweetness. However, it quickly develops a tannic spiciness and warmth. This sensation is brief, fading rapidly. The existing flavor is mostly generic maltiness and feels quite thin. It's not harsh or unpleasant, just dull and somewhat unrefined. Finish: Medium in length. Pleasantly warm and a bit too sweet. This is a budget blend from a discount supermarket chain. It's comparable to other entry-level blends. It carries a 3-year age statement and is clearly priced to be cheaper than other basic blends. It's very heavy on the grain and the initial pour from a new bottle isn't very promising. If you keep trying it, you get used to it but it never becomes genuinely pleasant. It doesn't work well as a mixer either, as its raw dullness comes through even when mixed heavily with cola. Quite poor quality. I strongly suggest anyone thinking about buying this spend a little more on a better budget blend. The small savings aren't worth it. "Poor": 63/100 (1.25 stars)

While I've heard opinions vary on this scotch-whiskey blend, I found this one to be excellent. This spirit, aged for three years, is a moderately smooth, very gentle drink with a nutty finish.

Remarkably easy to drink.
