About this bottle

High West Campfire Barrel Select is created by aging the brand's Campfire blended whisky—a mix of straight ryes, straight bourbon, and blended Scotch malts—in ruby port barrels for one year and nine months, resulting in limited availability.

“Whisk(e)y 🥃 Grilling Time Review!” High West Distillery Campfire 🔥 Barrel Select 2019 Aged in Ruby Port barrels for 1 year 9 months Mash: blend of Scotch, Bourbon, and Rye ABV: 48.6% Taste Note: Front: Maple bourbon BBQ sauce, grilled peaches, and Dr. Pepper. It evokes the start of a grilling session outdoors by the sea dock. Sea 🌊 spray. Mid-palate: Sandalwood, peppered jerky, spicy licorice, but there's a tingle that lasts for days; I swear it's a smoky blood orange zest. Back/Finish: Here, the smoky blood orange zest continues with white chocolate. A floral note that concludes slowly with a sweet, smoky finish. I rate this a 97 and it's one of my favorite Campfire Selects. It's so complex I might revisit it. The price of $80 is perfect, and I'd buy this anytime. Cheers High West for this magnificent blend and sweet smoky goodness, and go 9ers!

This review is for the 2020 release!!! It just came out last Friday. Only 200 bottles were produced, and it's incredibly good! It retains the classic campfire character with an even smoother, more complex finish. I had it at the saloon because no bottles are available.

Daniella Stoner 4.3

The smoky character is immediate and intense, lingering strongly in the finish. It's a mistake to compare it to Islay; it is interesting on its own merits.

Van Mullins 4.8

Smells like BBQ rub, brown sugar, nutmeg, and marshmallow, with a port barrel finish.

Sandy Nevarez 5.0

Smoky and potent taste, among the finest for sipping

Jasmine Lockwood 5.0

One of the top-tier sippers. Extremely potent.
