High Commissioner 7 Years Old

The whiskey's flavor is astringent, intense, rich, generous, yet soft and perfectly balanced, with notes of toffee, green apple, and pear, a little melted brown sugar, and peat. The finish is long and warming with hints of vanilla and oak. The whiskey's refined aroma consists of notes of citrus, flowers, and sweet spices. Smoky tones add a special charm. Blended whiskey "High Commissioner", created from single malt and grain whiskey, was first sold in 1865. Aged for at least seven years in oak barrels, this whiskey is distinguished by its excellent quality and rich, noble, and soft malt taste. High Commissioner whiskey is a bronze prize winner at the "International Spirits Challenge-2009". The whiskey is produced at the Loch Lomond distillery. Loch Lomond is a young distillery, built in 1965 by Barton Brands and Duncan Thomas. Production began a year later. The distillery installed 3 distillation stills, an unusual number for distilleries, allowing it to produce more than one malt. Loch Lomond has released 7 different malts over its existence. During the whiskey industry recession in 1984, the distillery was closed and only reopened in 1987. In 1993, a Coffey still was installed, enabling the production of both malt and grain whiskey. In 1997, a fire at Loch Lomond destroyed 300,000 liters of whiskey, but the distillery continued its work. In 1999, two more stills were commissioned. Today, Loch Lomond produces 12 million liters of alcohol annually.
