High Coast Berg

My journey into spirits started here. For the first five decades of my life, I had zero interest in whisky. Its aroma and flavor were unappealing. But truthfully, I had no clue about what good whisky was or even what it entailed. My only encounter with whisky was as a mixer with cola during late nights out when options were scarce. Everything shifted when my former employer, invited to my birthday celebration, gifted me the High Coast Berg (batch No 1). A Swedish whisky, intriguing. A few weeks later, I decided to open it and sample it. Amazing! What a revelation! Its aroma featured vanilla, nuts, and caramel. The taste was sweet, yet also peppery with cinnamon. The finish felt warm and comforting. I enjoyed it! That's how my passion ignited. Currently, my collection includes whiskies from Scotland, Japan, India, Taiwan, and Sweden. High Coast, thank you for introducing me to this incredible sensory realm of aroma, taste, and feelings! It absolutely deserves a perfect 5-star rating.

From Sweden, Batch 09. This is a fantastic spirit. I also get dried fruits, pear, char, and vanilla on the nose. Vanilla is prominent with cherries and cream, a hint of cinnamon candies, and a lengthy finish with menthol and more sweets. Superb. A relative from Sweden procured this while visiting. It's worth seeking out. Cheers

A subtle sweetness on the nose, reminiscent of molasses. The aroma includes dark wood notes. Wood is the dominant flavor, hitting hard with a reasonably long finish. Flavors evolve into chocolate and spice, accompanied by a deep heat similar to a pepper's warmth. Musty and intricate, with a hint of sweetness but primarily wood, chocolate, and heat. Quite intriguing and very pleasing.

An excellent whisky showcasing the potential of High Coast. You'll be greeted by notes of plums, raisins, and general dried fruits on the nose, with subtle vanilla in the background. Wonderful. Moving to the palate, we discover dry, sherried oak which is simply delightful.

This fairly young (6-7 years) sherry-forward dram could potentially land in my top 3 Swedish whiskies to date. It's full-bodied, intense, and possesses a respectable kick. It lacks peat or smoke. My flavor tags cover the primary notes. Give it a shot if you get the chance! 👍🏻

Gentle, kind, sweet, rich, pleasing. Extremely smooth and without the alcoholic taste or burn typically associated with its 50% ABV and likely young age. Simply calm and pleasant. Batch 6 2021.
