Havana Club Añejo Reserva Rum

This is where I learned to drink rum straight. It's good on ice (nearly as good as the 7 Años) and acceptable neat. It enhances your mixed drinks. It's similar to Especial but superior in every way, though pricier. Moving up from Especial makes this the first genuinely sippable rum in the Havana Club range. If it were less expensive, it would outsell the Especial just as the Blanco and 3 Años did. If it were more costly, the 7 Años would overshadow it (but unlike the Blanco and potentially the Especial, it would be missed). It has an oak-nutmeg-rum aroma and a pleasant, mildly sweet taste with hints of citrus, pineapple, and freshness, finishing with a little warmth.

Highly compatible with cola or virtually any mixer. Also complements fruit garnishes well. An excellent choice for mixing.

Smells of butterscotch, marmalade, lemon peel, vanilla, and nutmeg. The texture is light and soft. The taste features more lemon peel, nutmeg, and butterscotch, along with a clear honey flavor and subtler notes of banana chip. The ending is brief to moderate in duration. 3.00/5.00 – Good (neat)

It has a pale amber hue. The aroma offers notes of brown sugar, wood, vanilla, and alcohol. The taste is sweet, with brown sugar and vanilla, and a touch of warmth at the finish. It shines in a Cuba Libre.

An acceptable rum, I find it too sweet for drinking neat. However, I like adding it to my tea to give my drinks a kick.

It's light with an almost fruity scotch quality that blends with the sweet sugar. Not bad for sipping.
