Tasting this next to a 131 proof O'Fallon store pick probably wasn't the best idea. This will be better with a year or two more aging, and I'd like to see it at around 60%+ ABV. The Forester was excellent. Just the right amount of Kentucky hug making its way slowly down the chest. However, it had a lot of character and a cleaner profile… banana, standard O'Fallon notes, and not very complex aside from the Green River. It's an acceptable bourbon. This Green River full proof, on the other hand, had a lot going on. I need more time with it. The pour was difficult to define and didn't feel as special as the Forester. It will take some time, but they're on the right track at Green River with these bottles. Hopefully, the pricing remains the same. Bourbons bottled at strength are where it's at. This one is worth buying, but if it cost much more, I'm not sure that would be the case with 120+ proof barrel strength Knob Creek store picks for 5-10 dollars more. Now, I need to try their regular rye mash full proof side-by-side with this wheated mash full proof.

Green River's wheated bourbon mash bill, consisting of 70% local corn, 21% wheat, and 9% malted barley, is used for this spirit. The Full Proof version is a blend of barrels aged 5 to 7 years, bottled at the specific batch strength, which usually falls between 109 and 116 proof.
