Nose: very strong burnt rubber and peat. Light banana. On the palate: confirmed as the only notes, banana, candied fruit. Bitterish and short finish, which disappears completely after a while. Nose. Cereals and dried banana chips, followed by some peat and candied fruits. Palate. A bit thin on the palate (this could be amazing at 46% ABV or higher) but primarily vanilla and a little orchard fruit (pear?). Finish. Fairly short (again, this is bottled at a slightly too low ABV) but there's a touch of smoke, black pepper, and butter.
I was given this sample as part of a whiskey advent calendar. The nose is dusty and smoky. The palate is less smoky. It's dry and sweet. The finish is a bit sweet, moderately long, and astringent.
Silky vanilla sweetness, high proof, 1.75L. Sweetness, sugar, vanilla, smoothness, lovely balance, lightly woody, rated 4. Light sweetness, rated 3. Overall score 2.75.
It's not terrible, but if you appreciate peat (like me, a fan of Islay) there are more affordable blends that are far superior.
Strong aroma. Peat scent. Complex flavor. Begins sweet with a peaty and smoky finish.
