Even though it's NAS, this bottling is actually better than the 12-year-old, and the 48% ABV truly lets the whisky's full aromatic character delight the palate. The use of virgin oak casks is akin to bourbon, yet the taste difference is profound: cinnamon, apricots, mint, and barley. The finish is notably rich and satisfying, leaving a long-lasting sensation in your mouth. Delicious!
A scent of a musty barrel and peanut shells, with woody spice. It develops more bourbon-like notes. Very prominent barrel character, but the malt holds its own well. Tastes of toasted barley. Woody and spicy.
A good balance for 48% ABV. I enjoyed the thick bourbon-like vanilla and honey flavors. My preferred choice between the two Glen Garioch expressions (the other being the 12-year). A score of at least 4 for this one.
Abundant vanilla and sweetness in the mouth. While not deeply intricate, it's a delightful measure. My partner enjoyed it, and we acquired a bottle at the distillery.
