About this bottle

While the Gibson brand is widely recognized in Canada, its origins trace back to pre-Prohibition America as a Pennsylvania rye whiskey before production relocated across the border. Gibson's Finest 18 Year is a blend of grain (corn) whisky, rye, and malted barley. Each component is distilled in either a column or pot still and matured in both ex-bourbon and new oak barrels. Although still available on the market, this bottling is likely no longer being produced.

Gibson’s Finest 18 Year Venerable tasting notes. Deceptively smooth and sweet. It’s well-balanced, featuring notes of gentle caramel, oak, flowers, and mild spice. I’d guess it’s stronger than the 12 year, but its smoothness makes that uncertain. It’s good, but given its age and cost, I’d prefer a little more power. The original 18 Year Old Rare gets fantastic feedback. I question if this truly honors that heritage. 90 dollars in Ontario.

My favorite whisky ever. Fruity, creamy, and rich. Smooth yet intricate and captivating. The flavor remains in the mouth for an extended period after swallowing. Absolutely delightful.
