Frying Pan Shoals bourbon

Despite my admiration for the bottle's design, I did not enjoy the bourbon. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The aroma was simply unusual and not appealing. The flavor was odd, and the taste was not smooth. It felt as though it was rushed to market. Somewhat harsh/briny. I hope for a better batch in the future! With a full bottle now, I'll reserve it for those rare times when I don't want my guests to linger... Revisiting after adding ice. The initial tasting was neat; now trying it with an ice wedge. A few drops of water seemed unlikely to significantly alter it. The aroma is slightly more inviting, possibly with a peanut influence, but not dominant. The scent remains hard to define. On the palate, it's considerably less harsh, which is unsurprising. The lingering taste is now much more pleasant. Perhaps a touch more floral. I must maintain the one-star rating, as all my evaluations are based on neat pours, and that initial experience remains definitive.

The nose presents a strong peanut aroma with a subtle medicinal hint. On the palate, it's leathery, oaky, and smoky, finishing with a quick-fading sharp spice. The palate's flavor profile is much better than the nose's, though none of the scents carry over. The mouthfeel is a bit thin. Overall, a really good drink.

As another reviewer noted, it has a medicinal quality. I concur; it's not a flavor I appreciate. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere and avoid drinking something that tastes like acetone. It didn't even blend well, and the chemical notes were still apparent.
