Fresh Bourbon Whiskey

The aroma and palate are interesting, unlike anything I've experienced from other bourbons. I also had the chance to get a bottle signed by the owners, which was quite special. On the nose, I detected strong honey and bread notes. The palate had robust notes of honey and sweet hay, reminding me of being around horses and the scent of their feed and grains. Perhaps this isn't too surprising, considering this bourbon is from Lexington, KY, the Horse Capital of the USA. A compelling story and interesting company facts, not your typical bourbon or bourbon characteristics. At $45, I was hesitant to purchase; I wasn't intending to buy a $45 bourbon, especially a brand new one. However, they had won some awards, so it seemed worth trying. But for my personal taste, I wasn't as impressed. I've tried it neat a couple of times, added an ice cube, and experimented, but I just can't get into it. I have about ¾ of a bottle left that will likely just sit on my shelf looking attractive.

Honestly, this "bourbon" tastes like pure gasoline. It was completely undrinkable. The flavor was akin to sweat wrung from a cowboy's chaps after herding cattle in a hot Mexican desert. Save your money.
