Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon (2021)

(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual American Whiskey Tasting, 05 February 2022). Nose: Fruit – stone fruit and berries, stewed apples, kirsch cherries. Hints of floral notes and charred oak. Palate: Caramelized fruit, red berries, orange and orange zest. Sweet, vanilla, and creamy. Concentrated and rich. Finish: A long finish. Leather, sweet dried fruit (cranberries), burnt sugar, dark chocolate berries. Icing sugar on the aftertaste. This is an outstanding drink! Rich and luxurious, with many interesting layers – a lot of sweet fruit – but finishing on leather and oak. Fantastic! 13% 16y/o OBSV 6% 14y/o OBSQ 23% 12y/o OESK 58% 16y/o OESV It came in first out of the six drinks, with 59% of the final vote for favorite of the night. 88% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky. This received my vote for the best of the evening and it was a clear winner. Very tasty, though a little on the expensive side.

Nose- Smells like a candy apple, with green apple juice and thick caramel, all coated in nuts. It carries a vintage bourbon aroma, reminiscent of a aging warehouse in autumn. Simply put - magnificent! Palate- The candy apple essence continues, bringing red fruit, caramel, and a chewy texture. A milk chocolate flavor also emerges. This sweetness is counterbalanced by a touch of dry oak. The flavor profile is impressive! Finish- Extended, comforting, fulfilling. It concludes with hints of leather and cigar packaging. The ideal conclusion to an outstanding bourbon! Overall- This is the top bourbon I've had this year! The harmony, the flavors, the complexity, and the classic bourbon character are present. I might be able to identify a weakness... but why bother? This is a bottle you need to own.

Big, sweet wood aroma with cherries and raspberries coated in caramel, plus leather, sweet pipe tobacco, and roasted coffee beans. It truly penetrates the nostrils and gives your senses a warm embrace. It's quite welcoming. Thick texture, I appreciate how it coats the tongue. Sweet pipe tobacco is upfront, followed by cinnamon, almond, oak with a leathery quality, tart red fruit, and some clove and black pepper. Vanilla extract and more oak appear on the lingering finish. Not as striking as the nose, but still delightful. It has a rich, indulgent character that pairs wonderfully with the tart red fruit. An excellent example of equilibrium. Worth the journey to Kentucky to acquire it.

Not too impressed, but it's alright in a mixed drink. I don't really care for sipping it. I'm not going into much detail about the flavors, notes, and finish since my palate for Bourbon/Whiskey is still pretty new, with over 50 tastings but less than 100 as of 2022. (That's not all consumed, just all appreciated outside of shots and mixers)

A thick explosion of cherry. Nose: Cherries, Strawberries, Caramel, Maple Syrup, Vanilla, Pecan Pie, White Chocolate, Red Apples, Lemon Meringue Pie, Marshmallows Palate: Red Apples, Cinnamon, Caramel, Cherries, Raspberries, Honey, Almonds, Cloves, Apricots, Pears, Marzipan, Nutmeg Finish: Apricots, Oranges, Honey, Cherries, Vanilla, Caramel, Demarara Syrup

Smell: Popcorn, wood, toffee, maybe root beer, peanuts. Body: Moderate to substantial. Taste: Piquant, spearmint, toffee. Conclusion: Moderate to lengthy, smoky, and pleasing. Note: Final taste from the 1010 sample for the evening. Greatly anticipating this. This is certainly the most flavorful and bold of the samples tonight. Quite pleasing.
