About this bottle

The 2022 edition of this annual limited release from Fortaleza is a blend of three different reposado tequilas. One was aged for six months in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. Another was matured in Hungarian oak ex-Tojaji wine casks, split between five months in first-fill and four months in second-fill. The third was aged in French oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks, also split between five months in first-fill and four months in second-fill. These were matured independently before being combined into the final blend, which was bottled at 43.5% ABV and released in limited quantities starting in November 2022.

Ronnie Craven 4.8

Remarkable. It begins with a pleasant vegetal agave that transitions into a sugary, roasted agave. Oak tannins impart a gentle sensation on the palate. Hints of apricot, grapefruit, lime, and apple emerge, along with subtle mineral traces. The conclusion is refreshing and clean, with the fruit and earthy notes persisting. Among the finest reposados I've encountered.

Reese Skaggs 4.3

Pepper, caramel, vanilla, with a pleasant thick mouthfeel. I believe I favored the 2021 version, but this is still quite enjoyable.

Rebekah Hollingsworth 4.5

On the first taste, it had notes of citrus with hints of toasted caramel and vanilla as it concluded.
