Quite good, but somewhat unusual. I'm uncertain if the pronounced corn sweetness complements the subtle cherry from the French wine barrels. I'm just not convinced it works. Perhaps this specific mash bill isn't ideal, or maybe there's too much rye. The spice also disrupts the overall balance of the whiskey. Even diluting it doesn't temper it enough to be properly tasted. It's not the smoothest drink, which is a letdown.

The aroma features a good amount of fruit, along with brown sugar and oak in the background. The palate brings red apple and citrus fruit notes, followed by a wave of rye spice and cinnamon. The finish and mouthfeel are pleasing. The flavor is quite potent, yet remains balanced with the fruit and spice components.
I found this bottle to be quite well-balanced throughout. The aroma hints at its sweetness. I can detect spice, butterscotch, and vanilla notes. On the palate, I experience more baking spices and some fruity notes. The finish is smooth and pleasant.
It's acceptable. It has that characteristic Virginia mash whiskey taste, but it's quite harsh, even with added water. I'm uncertain if the rye content in the mash bill is too high, but it's not a smooth drink, and I suspect it mistakes dissonance for complexity.
Very subtle on the nose. After adding a splash of water, I was quite underwhelmed. It presented some toasted oak notes at the beginning, but nothing lingered afterward. It somewhat aligns with its political namesake - full of potential but failing to deliver.
Not my preference. I distinctly detected a corn profile that I dislike. It does possess a reasonable spice, but overall, I am let down. I will save this bottle for guests who are less discerning or have less particular tastes.
