Compared to the standard Old Fashion or whiskey barrel aged Fee Brothers bitters, this is a more popular option in the collection. I've noticed it used in various cocktail recipes and even combined with other orange bitters to create a house orange blend (as seen in the Death & Company cocktail book). The West Indian Orange bitters are quite light compared to other orange bitters. There's a subtle bitterness, but it's primarily the orange flavor that comes through. I've mixed these with Regan's Orange Bitters for the Death & Company house orange recipe (using a 2:1 ratio of Regan's to Fee Brothers), and it works very well, so I'd suggest that approach if you plan to purchase these. You'll find several recipes that specifically call for these bitters, so even if you don't plan on mixing them, they're still worth having. Just don't expect them to significantly impact most cocktails. If you only want to own one type of orange bitter, I'd recommend Regan's.

Back in the day, before orange bitters were common, this brand was already producing. I find glycerin dominates the profile, though there are sweet notes of orange peel and flesh. It's not bitter at all. Mix one part with Regans no 6 for a Milk and Honey house bitters. Combine equal parts Regans, Angostura Orange, and this for Death and Company's signature orange bitters.
The nose is very sweet with orange and only a slight bitterness. It lacks significant herbal notes, focusing mostly on orange.
Superb orange bitter with lovely floral notes and a smooth orange taste.
