Farmer's Organic Gin

I've been enjoying this in various Martini variations and in a G&T with Fever Tree Elderflower tonic and a lemon slice. This is my first time tasting this gin. Let's get started. The aroma is very similar to Bombay Sapphire, almost identical. It's very delicate with little ethanol, perhaps even slightly richer. When tasted neat, it falls into the same flavor profile as Bombay Sapphire, our standard house pour. It comes across as a touch sweeter and richer, but not significantly. Neither is particularly heavy on juniper. Both offer moderate citrus and herbal notes with delicate florals in the background, underpinned by light juniper. The Famers has more Angelica and is distinguished by traces of elderflower, making it more floral and complex. Both had similar levels of black pepper and spice. In a Martini, I found the Famers to stand out nicely, though it didn't blow me away. The vermouth in a 3:1 cocktail overwhelmed the differences. In a G&T, my wife and I found them to be virtually indistinguishable, and she's a big Sapphire fan. This was with the aforementioned Fever Tree Elderflower tonic. I like this quite a bit, but considering its $28 for 750ml compared to $32 for 1.75L, I think I'll stick with Sapphire.

Poured neat. Appears clear, unlike the original discontinued version which had a pale yellow hue, and shows significant legs that cling to the glass. The aroma offers floral evergreen forest notes, citrus, and coriander, presenting a clean and bright profile. On the palate, citrus and herbal notes emerge, followed by a surge of ethanol. An earthy juniper and forest floor flavor then develops, concluding with coriander and a light spice. It has a sweet and viscous mouthfeel that coats the palate, but this sensation dissipates rapidly, leading to a rather brief finish (again, unlike the original). Lingering notes of citrus, rose, and a tingling dry spice remain as the aftertaste. This doesn't exactly match my recollection of the original Farmer's Gin (which received a 5-star rating). This iteration seems to feature less prominent juniper flavors, leaning more towards rose and citrus (lemongrass), with a less substantial coating mouthfeel. It remains a beautiful gin, just not as bold as anticipated (especially considering its 93.4 proof). Those who favor modern American gins will likely enjoy this, and I do appreciate it as a gin in that style, but I was hoping for a more robust juniper presence to stand up in cocktails.
