This spirit benefits from some aeration and is best enjoyed neat. It might even work well as a mixer. Adding ice introduces a bitter, tannic flavor that I found unpleasant. If allowed to sit for a while, some of the ethanol notes become more subdued. I sampled a portion from a half-empty bottle that had been open for some time in a store, and it was exceptional for a $36 bottle. A pour from a fresh bottle revealed more ethanol and bitter notes than my initial tasting.
