Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage 2014

The aroma presents notes of caramel, burnt brown sugar, vanilla, apricot, and rye spices. Further scents reveal hints of green apple and unripe melon. The aromas are pleasant and inviting. On the palate, many of the notes detected in the aroma are lost, and a simple, straightforward caramel, vanilla, and toffee flavor coats the palate, with the back of the throat experiencing a very mild peppery spice. Flavorful for a whiskey under 90 proof, with notes of oak, vanilla, and a hint of marshmallow. However, it still feels a bit warm/spicy for its proof. The palate seems somewhat thin and watery. I can't overlook the price. It seems like the single barrel vintage is what you're paying for. For this proof, there are more affordable whiskeys I'd prefer. And for the price point, there are other more flavorful, higher proof whiskeys I'd also choose.

Mediocre. It's not bad, but better options are available. The proof seems excessively low for this 8-year-old whiskey. It's simply a dull sip. Furthermore, the price increase from $25-30 to nearly $40 over the past few years is quite unreasonable. This will almost certainly be my final purchase of Evan Williams single barrel. The aroma brings vanilla, caramel, and flowers. The initial taste reveals spicy clove, oak, char, and a whisper of peat. It finishes with a pleasant smoke and shows good viscosity. The rich texture and smooth, smoky conclusion are quite harmonious. Adding ice enhances the smoke and peat. I enjoy this and suggest it.

Excellent value! This bourbon is extremely well-balanced. It's smooth, sweet, and has an oily texture. Based on a comparative tasting, here's my ranking by preference: 1. Evan Williams Single Barrel 2. Jack Daniel’s #27 Gold Maple Wood Finish 3. Blanton’s Original Single Barrel 4. Wild Turkey Barrel Proof

Far too diluted, this ought to be at least barrel proof. Why ruin an eight-year-old whiskey? It's sweetened brown liquid with spirits and a hint of oak.
