Eros Limoncello

Appearance: Clear with a pale yellow tint. Aroma: Notes of lemon oil and lemon sherbet candies. Flavor and Texture: The taste is quite simple and singular, featuring straightforward lemon oil or essence in a sweet syrup base with neutral spirits. The texture is somewhat thick. Likely the most uninteresting limoncello I've encountered. While not actively unpleasant, it's very common and seemed to be created artificially from extracts instead of from macerated fresh lemon peel. I'm not certain this is the production method, but it tasted that way. In Australia (and likely other English-speaking regions), the brand name is Eros, but it's actually made by Callicounis Distillery in Kalamata. They produce a vast array of spirits and liqueurs and have been in operation since the mid-19th century, though their products have only recently become available here. The container is small (100ml) and affordable, both of which I view as advantages. I haven't sampled any of their other liqueurs, and I'm not eager to. If you absolutely had to have a limoncello and it was the only option at the establishment, you would drink it, but you'd also complain to everyone about how bland it tasted.
