Duncan Taylor 12 Year Blended Scotch Whisky

Smell: quite a bit of ethanol, fruity, some malt, a drop of honey. Snifter: decently malty, has a weak peaty finish (not smoky at all), some fruit is present but difficult to identify, a hint of wood tannin, a dash of salty notes, very faint honey notes in the middle of the palate. On ice: it becomes much fruitier, the malty notes remain about the same, the peaty finish vanishes completely, it is sweeter overall with ice, the wood tannin is gone. I prefer this over neat, but I wouldn't refuse it neat. It's less salty but there's a hint of saltiness. Drink Recommendation: on ice Verdict: "Purchase it." This is a very accessible blended scotch that gives someone an idea of what scotch can be like. It doesn't present the full picture of scotch, but at least one facet of what it can be. Not too intimidating for a beginner.

Good value for this well-mixed 12-year-old. I believe this is only available at Total Wine and Beverage stores. I have never been dissatisfied after opening a bottle.

The aroma carries alcohol and sweetness, with similar flavors on the palate. Honey and barley are present, along with some oak. It's quite straightforward but rich enough to temper the burn and provide balance.

Significantly better than its cost suggests. Lingering finish, but everything else is perfect. Wonderful aroma, taste, and flavor.

Did a commendable job for its price. Smooth and flavorful, reminiscent of southern Scotland. I'm not fond of the finish.
