Nocino is basically walnut liqueur. It is traditionally made once annually in Northern Italy with green, unripe walnuts. The walnuts are soaked in neutral spirits, allowed to sit, and then the walnuts are taken out. Sugar syrup is added for a bitter sweetness. Each household’s recipe differs, with additions to the base changing. So, this is a small serving I purchased for only $3. I was intrigued to experience the flavor of green walnut liqueur. This version comes from a small producer in Wash DC – and I believe it contains walnuts along with some botanicals too. Fortunately, it is not sugary. It leans more toward the bitter sweet profile with notes of walnuts (as expected), vanilla, and blackberries. An excellent choice for an after-dinner drink if you desire something that isn’t overly sweet. Too much to consume an entire bottle by yourself, but fantastic following a large meal with guests.

There's nothing bad about it, just not much taste. Some other nochinos out there are more flavorful. It works okay as a mixer because it won't dominate the main liquor.
