I was able to get a sample bottle for a reasonable price. Nose: fruity and floral. Lots of gorse, hints of banana and vanilla, flower petals—lilies? Not even a hint of sharpness, it is smooth and round. It’s almost as though I’ve stuck my head in a gorse bush (without the thorns). Very sweet, very tropical. Hints of white grape. Buttery, and somewhat shortbread-like or biscuity. Body: spicy?! I didn’t expect that from the nose! Peppery. Then Rounded and full. Juicy. Palate: very well balanced. stays floral and herbaceous. Salt and pepper at first, followed by vanilla, oak, and a bit of lemon zest. Perhaps a hint of thyme? Honey, sunscreen. Finish: woody and spicy.

I really should stop searching for elusive whiskies, whether real or imagined. Some are fantastic, others not so much, but they all carry a hefty price tag. I believe a bottle of this costs something absurd like $300 USD in my region. I managed to get a sample for a mere $40 USD after shipping and taxes, and one word sums it up: OVERPRICED. I'd be content with it as a standard drink at $40 USD per bottle, but at nearly ten times that price, forget it. A previous Dingle batch 2 was one-third the cost and at least one-third better. Definitely pass unless you enjoy hunting for expensive unicorns.
