Cutty Sark 18 Year Old Cutty Sark: Gaelic for 'short shirt'. *In 1919, due to Prohibition in the US, the export market for Scotch whisky stagnated. Berry Bros. & Rudd, anticipating the repeal of Prohibition, developed Cutty Sark, a new product with a lighter taste. Cutty Sark refers to a witch's undergarment, and the figurehead of the sailing ship Cutty Sark is adorned with a witch's undergarment shape, symbolizing a wish for the ship's safety. Nose: Despite being an 18-year-old blend, the alcohol is still present. Hints of vanilla, a slight alcoholic scent reminiscent of perfume, lime, and the floral or honey notes of pollen. Taste: Fragrant, bright honey and fruit, along with leaves, pass through the palate lightly and quickly. Finish: Subtle notes of dried grass, herbs, and floral scents linger with a mild to moderate duration. A hint of the missing 43% ABV's spice remains subtly on the palate. One-liner: It feels like the fastest ship, Cutty Sark, is charging towards an uninhabited island covered in colorful flowers. The regret is that the aroma disappears from the mouth too quickly due to the speed.
