Coppercraft Blend of Straight Bourbon

Smells like corn and damp paper. Greasy on the tongue, with a clear rye presence at the start and a light oaky end. My guess is they use a barrel with very light char since I don't get any caramel, butterscotch, or vanilla which I usually find with a more heavily charred barrel. I believe a couple more years in the barrel might benefit this one... or perhaps try something unconventional and rebarrel this into a heavy char barrel for about 5-6 years to really achieve some complex flavors and call it a double oaked. As it stands, I anticipate simple notes of baking spices will emerge from this and the harsh, young oakiness could mature into some citrus in future batches. It's not undrinkable, but it's a bit young and I don't get the impression it will become anything great with more time in the barrel.

Sampled neat, no ice. Allowed it to sit. The aroma was superior to the standard bourbon but not significantly. It carried notes of vanilla and also that stinging alcohol scent. After the 97 proof's harshness, I prepared for a difficult experience. The taste was overwhelmingly heat and alcohol again. Surprisingly, it had less heat with faint traces of caramel and vanilla. Despite the heat and alcohol being the dominant tastes, it was still enjoyable. The finish persisted with the heat, and the flavor turned tart. The caramel and vanilla vanished, replaced by alcohol tastes. I would not suggest this bottle or even trying it. Conserve your resources and try something different. Scale 0.75

It lacks complexity upfront and tastes young. A distillery sales representative assured me it was a blend of whiskeys aged between 2 and 10 years. A second tasting revealed traditional bourbon wood flavors. It's sweeter rather than spicy. Easy to drink, but I wouldn't purchase it again at this price. The bottle is attractive and made for a nice souvenir.

It tastes like a younger bourbon. It's not bad, but it lacks the deep oak and character found in other bourbons. The corn and sweetness are quite prominent. It resembles other Michigan bourbons. Perhaps it's the water?

A pleasant surprise. It has notes of oak, vanilla bean, and a hint of caramel smoke. Very easy to drink. Good for cocktails, but I wouldn't drink it neat. A few more years might improve it, but I can't complain for a bourbon found at Comerica Park.

Remarkable depth, particularly for a blended whiskey. Sweet palate with a smooth body and just enough sharpness in the conclusion. After sampling all their whiskeys, this was the one I purchased.
