Compass Box Great King St Artist's Blend The Unholy Triumvirate Single Marrying Cask #10

A special thanks to a friend for allowing me to sample more variations of the Compass Box Great King St Artist’s Blend Single Marrying Cask. This is the Artist’s Blend returned to some of the casks used in the initial blend and aged for an additional year, then bottled close to cask strength. Cask No 10 was bottled at 49% ABV and provides a deeper insight into what the Artist’s Blend can be with extended aging. This is the third distinct batch I've had the chance to try. The prior two were somewhat more fruit-forward than this bottle. This one had pleasant floral notes but was more grain-focused with prominent oak characteristics. It strongly resembled a bourbon. The palate was intense and somewhat harsh. Some corn and vanilla notes emerged, but it remained overly focused on grain. The mouthfeel was slightly drier than the others, leaving a hotter finish. It was long, with some sweet, candied corn lingering. I must say this has been my least favored of the three I've sampled. It's still very drinkable, but if I were to rate it, I'd give it a solid 3 stars. Thanks again to my friend. Cheers.

The aroma is less pronounced compared to cask #1. The body is sweeter, resulting in a smoother finish. Consult cask #31 for additional details on this series.
