Compass Box Duokle Angelams

My connection with Compass Box has recently stabilized. I used to admire their marketing, but I often felt some bottles didn't deliver on their promises. However, I've enjoyed some excellent drams from them lately, which has rekindled my affection for this blended whisky brand. I managed to acquire a highly sought-after bottle, named "Duokle Angelams," an exclusive to Lithuania, for the bar sharing the same name. "Doukle Angelams" translates to "A tribute to the angels." The specific blend isn't readily disclosed like other Compass Box expressions. It primarily consists of Linkwood. Bottled at 49% ABV. On the nose, this is fantastic! Notes of peaches, powdered milk, "Suspiros" (a firm meringue cookie), floral hints, and sugar syrup emerge. After a few sips, stewed apples and fruits appear, reminiscent of "Pavlova," a popular South American dessert. On the palate, it's marvelous: suspiros, peaches, and subtle sugar. Exceptionally sweet. The finish offers a wonderful contrast: spicy lemongrass, tobacco, hay, and cigar notes. Truly beautiful. Overall, this was exceptional. And believe me, I've become more discerning about awarding high scores, especially for a blend. It's genuinely outstanding; so much so that I shared it at a tasting event with notable whisky figures, and it was unanimously ranked second for the night, behind the magnificent Ardbeg Alligator. My rating for this incredible limited edition of only 1494 bottles is a solid 96 out of 100. Cheers!
