Not bad for an Armagnac. Reminds me of cognac near the finish. My preference is for younger Armagnac over aged expressions, which I find excessively oaked. I wasn't fully focused on the pour because I was hosting a virtual poker game with acquaintances. We had played together for about ten years, but life events like moving and having children caused it to cease. Being confined for weeks encourages more imaginative activities. Before the pandemic, I wouldn't have considered organizing an online poker night with pals across New Zealand; next, we'll try online (non-poker) card games and whiskey. It’s a shame cigars aren't considered essential!

A potent Bas Armagnac from Clés des Ducs in France, aged for 25 years. It begins with notes of toffee and fruit, followed by a balanced and complex palate of dried fruits and vanilla, culminating in a long, intricate, yet smooth finish. August 2017.

Very smooth and delightful. Wonderful hints of oak and honey - a truly pleasing drink.
