Cinzano Rosso Vermouth

Appearance: Clear, reddish-brown with no visible particles. Aroma: Red wine, cinnamon, clove, and chinotto. The scent is pleasantly fragrant, but light and sweet rather than rich and robust like more highly regarded vermouths. Flavor and Texture: Smooth, sweet, and mildly spiced red wine. Notes of orange zest, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and cinchona are present with a good balance between bitter and sweet elements. The texture is light yet pleasing. Cinzano is sometimes considered an inexpensive, entry-level vermouth, which is understandable but also unfortunately dismissive. It's an enjoyable vermouth with a straightforward sweetness. While some vermouths utilize numerous spices and herbs (often noticeably), Cinzano Rosso seems to follow a simpler recipe. However, it is very easy to drink, highly versatile, affordable, widely available, and a reliable staple. Served chilled and neat, it functions well as a spiced wine aperitif, which is how I'm currently tasting this sample. It will perform adequately in any cocktail calling for sweet red vermouth. While it may be surpassed by other options, those usually come at a higher price. It's a solid, dependable choice that requires no apologies, though your journey into cocktails and spirits may eventually lead you to a superior vermouth. Aromatic profile of vanilla, caramel, black cherry, clove, quinine, and marmalade. Possesses a rich mouthfeel. The palate echoes black cherry, marmalade, and quinine, complemented by thyme and marjoram. The finish is brief to medium, with a bittersweet quality. 3.25/5.00 – Quite Good (neat)

Far superior to Martini & Rossi. It has a smooth mouthfeel, yet retains that somewhat tart flavor of concord grape. Difficult to pinpoint. Purchased for constructing a Milano-Torino.

Very similar to Martini Rosso, nothing special to excite the taste buds.
