Whiskey review. Nose: Very little aroma, and it doesn't seem to develop. Faint hints of oak and honey are present, and it presents as more viscous and oily than the 12, with dried fruits from the oloroso cask instead of fresh. Barely any smell here. Palate: Lively, grainy, woody, considerably more oily and thick than the 12, a touch richer and heavier, with vanilla. The spice seems altered too, deeper in a way, like sherry and cinnamon, but it continues to overpower, perhaps even more than in the 12, and its sweetness is reduced. Honestly, it's far too spicy for me. The malt is also completely absent compared to the 12. Finish: Moderate in length, perhaps even leaning towards medium-long, surprisingly lengthy and much longer than the 12. A subtle dry smokiness, ending with a slight bitterness, and that same oily texture. Lingering hints of milk chocolate, figs, and dates emerge. Overall, there's a minor distinction from the 12. It remains excessively spicy but offers more richness, oiliness, and a prolonged finish with some nuanced flavors that can be discerned. I certainly wouldn't repurchase it. If seeking an upgrade from the 12, the Chivas Regal 18 is a superior choice, offering significantly more.

Even though Chivas Regal is quite a 'commercial brand' as I call it, they make damn good whiskies. As a bourbon lover, Chivas belongs to my favorite Scotch brands. This one smells very promising, with a milky-chocolatey kind of sweetness in the nose, I smell marshmallow, fresh hazelnuts and clotted cream with scones. I expected it to be fruity when entering my mouth, but this was not the case. Light and creamy, rich and sweet. Kinda fruity at front but mostly mellow and sweet. I taste licorice root, thick sweet cream and vanilla. Burnless and smooth aftertaste of licorice root again. Hint of ginger. Very sugary. I love it. The Oloroso casks do their job. Excellent choice, especially for this amount of money! A favorite.

Dante Curry 3.5

The nose is unremarkable, yet pleasant, with sweet cinnamon, vanilla, and pear aromas. The palate offers notes of blueberries, caramelized fruits, and sweet sherry. The powerful finish and rich flavors are quite similar to another expression, but noticeably smoother and lighter. The Oloroso cask treatment is beneficial, and it offers great value. However, a higher proof would improve it.

Nose: Yellow fruits, baked bread, acceptable alcohol integration. There are also very subtle floral and herbal notes. Palate: Typical sherry profile. White pepper seasons a hint of vanilla and wild herbs. Slight sweetness, no smoke. You can detect that yellow fruit note. The taste isn't very rounded. Finish: Short.

Nose - Faint berry. Woody. Slightly floral but not very aromatic. Palate - Lots of cinnamon and baking spice. The mouthfeel is extremely light, almost like water. Not substantial but too wispy. Light fruit but not particularly refreshing. Finish - Cinnamon and baking spice persist weakly at the end.

Amber with some translucency. Nose: Melon notes hovering above the malt, with pear, banana, and white raisins. Palate: Neither dry nor sweet, with more prominent orange notes. Lingering slight astringency. Smooth on the throat. Adding a little water enhances the sweet fruitiness, making it much more flavorful.
