Nose: A somewhat subdued aroma for its age. Pleasant toasted oak with just a hint of rye spice emerging. Palate: Cherry licorice and cinnamon are complemented by a soothingly sweet caramel and vanilla. Dark chocolate-covered orange peel concludes the experience. Finish: Extended and lingering with additional notes of cinnamon and cracked black pepper. An excellent offering from a brand with a rich heritage!

About this bottle
For the 2020 holiday season, Chicken Cock presented a limited edition bottling. Master Distiller Gregg Snyder, representing Grain & Spirits (the brand's owners), chose ten barrels of Kentucky straight bourbon. This bourbon's composition included 78.5% corn, 13% rye, and 8.5% malted barley. Following fifteen years of maturation in new, charred American oak, the bourbon was combined and bottled at its original strength of 57% ABV, without chill-filtration. Distribution was restricted to Kentucky and the Chicken Cock online store.

The aroma is light barley, but quite faint. A strong wave of oak, so dry it's astringent. There's a flavor buried within that my mind recognizes but I can't identify. A medicinal tail. It's interesting and enjoyable.
Initially offers subtle fruit aromas. The concluding flavor is robust and long-lasting.
Robust and zesty
