To explore the variety of Armagnac and see if a different profile might be appealing, I acquired a sample of the cask strength offering to check for improvements. Now, their previous version of the Kavalan CS sherry was not great, and following that trend, this one nearly made me spit it out. It was rough, even with generous amounts of water added. All the aspects of Armagnac that I dislike were present in abundance: overly earthy, excessively woody, and incredibly bitter. Unsurprisingly, I did not finish it.
