Charles Goodnight Bourbon 100 Proof (Discontinued)

Acquired this on impulse at a liquor store due to a 96-point rating from an unknown reviewer...and I completely agreed with them! Woodsy, smoky, and sweet; the more I consumed it, the more I desired it, and at this price point, it's a no-brainer.

The aroma is heavy with leather, the taste offers subtle honey sweetness. I'd rate this much higher if the mid-palate and ending had more depth; it feels a bit restrained for a 100 proof spirit.

Hmm, I have mixed feelings about this one. I typically favor higher proof bourbons. I can't quite figure out why this didn't impress me. I will need to try it again.

Not bad. It's spicy initially, then I noticed some sweeter notes like toffee and honey. The sweetness remains on the finish along with some oak that eventually appears.

Abundant oak with vanilla and leather, plus a little smoke in the finish. Surprisingly smooth for being 100 proof. I'm not sure why more people don't enjoy this one.

A touch of spice at first. The aftertaste is a little strange. It's not terrible if it's your third or fourth drink of the evening:-).
