Canadian Rockies 21 Year

I purchased this following a glowing review where it was described as divine. It is indeed quite good! Appearance & Story: 1/1 - I appreciate the 21-year history and the narrative of its creation for Taiwan before its release here. The bottle itself is rather unremarkable, similar to the basic centennial. Nose: 1/1 - Caramel, maple, and vanilla notes are delicious. Taste: 1.75/2 - Excellent mouthfeel with a caramel hit. I don't detect the expected Canadian spice; it's subtle with many hard-to-pinpoint flavors, making it a challenge. Oaky sweetness is present, and the caramel is quite sweet. More spice would have made it perfect for my palate. Finish & Burn: 0.75/1 - There's a burn in the aftertaste that I enjoy, but others might find off-putting. Sweetness lingers, and a subtle sweet corn note concludes the experience. Total: 4.25 - I preferred the 35-year Wiser's, as it's more complex, as expected, but at roughly $75, I could buy three bottles of this. It's a tough call. The answer is to get both and save the Wiser's 35 for those who consider this a 4+. This is a benchmark for excellent Canadian whiskey at a reasonable price!

Canadian Rockies 21 At Irish Heather in Vancouver on October 31st, 2018. Served in a tasting glass. Minimal color. Sweet honey and caramel on the nose. A subtle hint of smoke, perhaps. Vanilla, oak, and spice notes are present. A touch of fruitiness. This carries through to the palate. This is a sophisticated spirit. Would I spend a hundred dollars on a bottle? Not today.
