An intense agave spirit from Mazamitla, Jalisco, Mexico, aged at least 1 year in French and American oak casks. Its aroma presents tropical flowers, wood, herbs, and spices. A bold and complex character then adds notes of agave, oak, vanilla, wet air plants, overripe vegetables, damp jungle floor, and earth, leading to a long finish reminiscent of a jungle flooded after a tropical storm. August 2021 'Swamp Sludge' came to mind, a term I use for most Asian food prepared by or for Westerners, where flavors are masked by liquid or ingredients are skimped on. My mother-in-law always overwatered my aloe plants; perhaps it was a rainy harvest season!
